Enphase Energy is now introducing its IQ9N microinverters with gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors to Europe as well. GaN technology replaces conventional silicon chips and enables more compact designs with higher power density. The US corporation promises better efficiency and lower thermal losses as a result. For installers, this means lighter devices and potentially faster installation – whether this proves itself in practice in terms of costs and availability remains to be seen.
