Glossary
Construction equipment terms explained.
Feed-in Tariff
Legally defined compensation rate that grid operators must pay to plant operators for solar power fed into the grid.
Feed-in Meter
Bidirectional or separate electricity meter that records the energy fed into the public grid by a PV system.
Energy Management System
Software and hardware solution that intelligently monitors, controls and optimises energy generation, storage and consumption within a building.
Battery Storage System
Electrochemical system that stores excess PV energy and feeds it back into the home grid on demand to increase self-consumption.
Photovoltaic System
System that converts sunlight into electrical energy using solar cells, comprising modules, an inverter, and grid-feed or storage components.
Equipotential Bonding
Electrical connection of conductive parts to equalise electrical potentials and protect against dangerous touch voltages.
Equipotential Bonding
Electrical connection of all conductive bodies in a building to prevent dangerous voltage differences between metal parts.
Smart Meter
Digital electricity meter with a communication interface that records consumption data in real time and transmits it bidirectionally.
Smart Meter
Digital electricity meter with a communication interface that records consumption data in real time and exchanges it bidirectionally with the grid.
