Amperfied offers its customers a software update that allows the charging power of already installed wallboxes to be reduced retroactively. Previously, many manufacturers required hardware replacement when operators wanted to adjust the performance of their charging station – for example due to new grid connection conditions or changed load management requirements. The solution demonstrates a trend toward software-defined hardware in charging infrastructure: functions are no longer hardwired into the hardware, but can be changed via update. For installers, this means fewer service visits; for operators, more flexibility without additional costs.
