Balcony power plants can now be combined with wallboxes – but only for low charging capacities. The typical 600 to 800 watts of a plug-in solar device provide about 3 to 5 kilometers of range per hour of sunshine. Providers such as Wallbox now offer charging stations that can be networked with mini PV systems via energy management systems. For tenants and apartment owners without their own PV system, this can be an entry point into solar-powered charging – but a full charge still depends on grid power. The practical benefit lies primarily in base load charging during downtime.
