ChargePoint is now equipping all new charging stations with Plug & Charge as standard. The technology based on ISO 15118 enables charging without an app or RFID card – the vehicle authenticates itself automatically when plugged in. Previously, this feature was only available as a paid option or in premium models. For installers, this means: fewer questions about operation, but higher requirements for backend integration and certificate management. ChargePoint is thus following a trend that European manufacturers are increasingly implementing – however, market penetration remains dependent on vehicle compatibility.
